Pennsylvania in June
Max and I journeyed back east recently for a very special occasion & to spend some quality time with my family and friends that we miss so much while living on the other side of the country. Whenever Max and I travel without Kyle, we try to make sure it overlaps with his trips so we don't really miss too much time together! While we celebrated a wedding, Father's Day & summer fun, Kyle was in San Fransisco working hard!
Here are a few highlights from our fun & humid trip back home.
Max traveled like the pro that he is. We were super lucky and had an empty seat next to us & a 4 year old that he became buddies with across the aisle. After they played and shared snacks for about 2 hours, Max napped for the rest of the trip, which was perfect. I followed all my best tips from my previous post.
The first item on the PA agenda was time with the Atteberry family. My sister and her family were heading to Florida for the week, so I had to to jam some Aunt Sammie dates in before they left.
Next, we checked out the walk in love. Pop Up Shop & celebrated Father's Day with a couple of my brothers & parents!
June is a little unsure about Max and his aggressive hugs and kisses, but I know secretly that she loves him so much!
Max learned about gardening and potato bugs from his Papou. The grass freaked him out at first, but this sissy Californian finally got his hands a little dirty.
On Sunday afternoon, my parents drove with me to St. Peter's, PA for Jason & Addison's wedding! Jason is my best friend from high school's little brother & I simply adore him, along with the rest of that family. Seriously, they're awesome. Addison, his new bride, is just as awesome and fits into their family perfectly. I'm so happy for them and was so glad that Max and I could be with them to celebrate their big day!
On Monday afternoon, two of my brothers came over with their families and we had some backyard fun. We tried to Slip 'n Slide, but the little ones weren't really into it. They had fun splashing around in the creek and jumping on the trampoline! It makes me happy to see Max playing in my old backyard and having some East Coast fun with his cousins. We're lucky to be close to beaches and have a pool here in California, but it's good for Max to experience different kinds of summers. Humidity, bugs and all.
Another highlight of my trip home was being able to meet my dear friend Jamie's adorable twins, Mia & Maverick! Max had a cold that day, so my mom babysat him while Aubrey and I drove to visit Jamie and her new darling babes! I used to teach with Jamie and I'm not sure I would have survived without her. She's one of my favorite people and is already such an awesome mama. She's doing an amazing job with her two little ones and they are so, so cute & oh so tiny! I'm also a big fan of their names.. especially Maverick's, for obvious reasons!
(Aubrey & I may have some baby fever!)
Max and I continued to enjoy our time in PA playing with each other, with family & with friends. I didn't get pictures of it all, but suffice it to say- we had a great time! As always, we cannot wait for our next visit!
Can you even handle how cute he is?!
Max did a great job traveling home! My brother, TJ, woke up bright and early on Saturday morning around 4am to drive us to Harrisburg and we were off to Dulles then San Diego. We waited about an hour in the San Diego airport for Kyle's flight to land and the Burns family was happily reunited again. It was so fun to actually greet him at the gate since that rarely happens these days. Max flapped his arms frantically until Kyle picked him up! And my heart exploded, obviously.
Thank you for being wonderful Pennsylvania. We will see you again soon!
