The Atteberry Family in San Diego
My big sister, Stephanie, is amazing. Allow me to explain- Her husband, Kyle, had a trip to Europe. They're both pilots for United. So, she drove with him and their four kiddos to the airport and then hopped on a plane to visit us in San Diego. She flew 5+ hours with Kaila, 8, Stephen, 6, Stellia, 4, & Alton, 18 months, all by herself just to visit us for approximately 36 hours! They arrived Tuesday evening, and after Kyle & I picked them up we headed to In-N-Out, obviously, and then brought them to our apartment!
After a tour of our two bedroom apartment, delicious burgers & Mochi ice cream (which the kids did NOT enjoy), we put the little ones down for the night and Kyle and I took the three big kids to the pool! Steph realized that they forgot Kaila's bathing suit, so we had to improvise. Luckily, she's a skinny little thing and she fit into Max's Patrol Speedo and a swim shirt of his! She said she liked it because she likes to surf so it was okay! We both forgot our phones, so we don't have any photos of the silliness that ensued, but we were able to just enjoy our nieces and nephew and have a great time! We were there until the security guard came to close the pool down at 10! Kyle told Kaila we'd never done that before because Max goes to bed so early, and she loved that. She was also fascinated with the fact that it was actually 1am in her body and we couldn't believe they were all still awake!
The next morning, the 5 Atteberrys left before we even woke up to drive to my Grandma and Grandpa's house. (We couldn't all fit in one car, so Max and I slept in and stayed behind) When they came home we had lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool. Then, we played on the playground, grilled delicious hot dogs & corn, headed to the putting green and topped the night off with s'mores! It was so much fun having them here for a quick visit and I especially loved that Max could play with his cousins. Him and Alton are the cutest, running around together and screaming "ba!" and "da!" at everything. The big kids are so sweet to him too, always hugging him and holding him. I'll let the photos do most of the talking, but it's safe to say, we had a great, great time!
Group photos of children are not easy, but I will never stop trying!
We headed to the hot tub a few times to "relax."
I'm so glad we bought a Lifeproof case! It is so fun to play with under water with the kids!
After we pulled the little ones away from the pool, we cleaned up and then headed down to the playground while Kyle grilled dinner! Kaila helped out by carrying Max. (She's a pro.) The kids climbed all over the playground, we played an epic game of freeze tag, ate, and took tons of photos of these cute cousins. Max and Alton were twinning in matching polo shirts... I cannot get enough of them!
Max and Alton's faces are too precious.
The kids put Kyle to work after dinner! I wonder who flew the highest...
Next up: Putting Green & S'Mores! The kids loved golfing. Stephen put his ball about 6 inches from the hole each time and would shout "hole in one!" and Alton got a hole in one too... with his foot. Max found the leftover corn and took care of that for a bit. The rest of us enjoyed s'mores because... summer.
The time flew by and we had to try to get a little sleep before waking up at 4am to take the Atteberry clan back to the airport!
Thanks for the great trip Steph, Kaila, Stephen, Stellia & Alton. Hopefully our next visit can be a bit longer!
