Max, King of All Wild Things

I am a huge fan of children's books.  I used to be an elementary school teacher and have worked with children pretty much my whole life, so I have had a huge collection of children's books for a long time.  They're some of my favorite gifts to give and receive!  Anyways, when I was thinking about Max's first birthday party, I decided on his theme pretty quickly... Where the Wild Things Are!  It is one of my favorite books, which thanks to Max- I've memorized.  It's an added bonus that we love the main character's name too!  Plus, our little one can be a wild thing from time to time (in the best way) so it just fit perfectly.

Before we flew home for his party, which was a week after his actual birthday, I wanted to take some Wild Things photos of Max to print and frame for his party!  I am no professional photographer, and make no claims to be, but since my favorite photographer (my sister-in-law) lives across the country, we had to make do.  We took our balloons, tripod, camera & wild thing across the street to a path we like to walk and started snapping.  Max actually kept his crown on his head for a while, which was amazing and Kyle was a huge help, making Max smile, giggle, & roar while taming the balloons that were almost carried away by the wind multiple times.  When we were almost done, we set up the tripod to take a family photo.  For some reason, whenever the tripod comes out, Max gets super serious and intense.  We pull out all the stops to try to get some smiles and reactions out of him and we ended up taking one of my favorite family photos which you'll see below!  Enjoy!

"And Now," cried Max, "Let the wild rumpus start!"

What is this face Max?!  I'm not so sure, but this is definitely one of my favorite family photos, ever.
