My Favorite Kyle & Max-isms
Kyle and I are always talking about our favorite things about Max. Right now him saying "hi!" and his hugs are on the top of our lists. Since Father's Day is almost here, I have been thinking a lot about Max and Kyle's relationship. I thought I would share my current list of favorite things about the two of them together. There are so many things about these two boys that I love, but I narrowed it down to 6 for now!
My favorite Kyle & Max-isms:
1. Asking Max if he wants to find his dad!
In the morning right after I nurse Max, I ask him if he wants to go find his dad and he gets so, so excited. His eyes light up, his smile multiplies by ten, he throws his arms around my neck and squeals with glee. He cannot wait until he sees his dad and it fills me with indescribable joy. We've been doing this for a long time and he gets just as amped up about it every day. I love how excited Max gets and it's one of my favorite parts of the morning!
2. When Max chooses Kyle over me.
Sometimes this one stings, but really- I love it. I'm with Max almost 24/7, and I've definitely been his favorite most of his life, but when he chooses to go with his Dad or doesn't want Kyle to give him to me, I get so happy. He is such a fan of Kyle and the feeling is mutual. I love seeing him bond with Kyle and love him and choose him. It's awesome. The only time it makes me sad is when Kyle leaves for work and Max cries, but it all ends up okay when Kyle comes home and Max greets him with a huge smile!
3. The fact that they're basically twins.
I've seen memes online saying something along the lines of, "I carried you for 9 months, labored for X amount of hours and you came out looking like your dad" as if this is a bad thing. I fell in love with Kyle and married him for a lot of reasons, but I'll be real honest- one of those reasons is that I'm physically attracted to him. Call me vain, but my husband is hot. He is very, very handsome and I love the fact that Max looks just like Kyle! Sometimes I can't believe how much they look alike and in certain photos it is striking, but it always makes me happy. I tease Kyle and say that we have to have kids until one of them looks like me, but really I could have a half dozen mini Kyles and be quite happy.
4. Their "manly" love fests.
Max gives Kyle kisses and hugs all the time and it's the cutest thing. Sometimes Kyle asks for a kiss or a hug, but most of the time it's unprovoked. He blows him kisses, gives him the tightest hugs and cuddles with him. They're just plain cute together. I know this will not last forever because at some point it will be weird for Max to kiss Kyle, but for now, I soak it up. Max loves his dad and I love witnessing it. I've literally "ooo-ed" and "aww-ed" out loud so many times because of their love fests.
5. #kylethrowsmax
If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen these pictures and know what I'm talking about. Kyle throws Max, way too high most of the time, and it's so fun. Max loves it and giggles and smiles and asks for more. I love it most of the time. Sometimes it scares me, but I know Kyle will always catch Max and will always keep him safe. I think it's so cool that we have this little tradition and have found a bunch of cool places to take the picture. I can't wait until Max is older and we can show him all the pictures of his Dad throwing him around. One day Max will be too heavy, but for now- the tradition continues.
6. Their guy time
Like I said before, I'm with Max most of the time, but sometimes on the weekends or in the evening, Max and his dad will get some quality time together. Usually it's because I'm heading down to the gym for a bit or running a quick errand. While I'm gone, Kyle sends me adorable and hilarious videos and pictures, like the one below which almost made me cry right before my yoga class started. When I get back, Kyle tells me about all the manly fun they had such as building and knocking down towers, playing basketball or spending some time on the putting green. I love hearing about their time together and am so thankful that Kyle loves hanging out with Max!
Like I said, these boys are the joys of my life. I love them both so much and love how much they love each other. (Ah, there's just so much love!) Before Father's Day, you should write a list of your favorite things about your dad or your husband as a dad, etc. Make sure you take time to talk about the current stage of life that you're in so that you remember to treasure it and enjoy it while it's happening! To Kyle, my dad & all the other amazing dads out there- Happy almost Father's Day!
